NEW ARTIST FLOPE RELEASES DEBUT

ALBUM, BUT WHO IS FLOPE?

Flope has been  involved in the music industry for over 20 years but has mainly

made and played music for fun.

Recently he decided to produce his

first album for public consumption

beginning with ‘Mask’ the first African

influenced album due for release in

early 2022.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

The project involved the discovery and purchase of a batch of over 100 original 78rpm shellac records made nearly 70 years ago in what was Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland (Now Zambia and Malawi respectively). The African rhythms and vocals have had to be painstakingly remastered, retempoed and rekeyed to fit modern recording systems. When this is done and they are laid down with new guitar and keyboard recordings as well as loops and samples, the results are quite amazing.

WHERE WAS THE ALBUM RECORDED AND WHO WAS INVOLVED IN ITS PRODUCTION?

Original vocals and instrumentation

were recorded onto 78RPM vinyl in

Africa during the 1950’s and early

60’s! The vocal languages used are all

native to the areas where they were

recorded. The recordings have been

converted to digital by a studio in the

US and finally cleaned up, sampled

and featured in new recordings made

in the UK by Flope.

ANY OTHER INFO

Flope continues to trawl the internet

for possible links back to the original

recordings and has managed to make

contact with the grandson of one of the

original performers who was amazed

at what had been achieved. The album definitely deserves a listen and the word needs spreading about this amazing project with its rich cultural heritage.
